Concierge pricing is confusing on purpose in some places and simply unexplained in others. The practical truth is that there are four fairly distinct tiers in Los Angeles, and they buy genuinely different things.
The four tiers
| Tier | Typical price | What you get |
|---|
| Focused / specialty concierge | $200–$400 per month | One clinical focus (metabolic health, weight loss, longevity). Works alongside your existing PCP. |
| Concierge primary care | $2,000–$5,000 per year | Replaces your PCP. Smaller panel, longer visits, direct access. |
| Premium concierge primary care | $5,000–$10,000 per year | Very small panel, extensive annual workup, high availability. |
| Executive / elite health | $10,000+ per year | Full executive physical, coordinated specialist network, deep imaging and testing. |
Ranges reflect commonly advertised Los Angeles pricing and vary by practice, panel size, and scope. Confirm current pricing directly with any practice you are considering.
What the fee does not include
This is where people get caught. In nearly every model, the membership buys the physician relationship — the time, the access, the continuity. It does not buy your medications, your lab draws, your imaging, or your specialist visits. A $250 per month membership with a $400 per month medication is a $650 per month decision, and you deserve to see that math before you join rather than after.
How insurance fits
Insurance does not pay membership fees anywhere. What it can still cover is everything ordered by your concierge physician: labs, imaging, prescriptions through your pharmacy benefit, and specialist care. Many practices, including ours, provide superbills so you can pursue out-of-network reimbursement where your plan allows it. HSA and FSA funds are frequently eligible, though the rules vary by plan.
How to judge whether it is worth it
The honest test is not whether the practice is nice. It is whether the extra time changes your outcome. Concierge care earns its price when you have something that needs iteration — weight that has not moved, insulin resistance, medication that needs real monitoring, or a long history of seven-minute visits that never got to the actual problem. If you are healthy and rarely need care, you are mostly buying convenience.
Where Elios sits
Elios Wellness is a focused concierge practice: $500 for the first month (which includes the comprehensive initial consultation) and $250 per month after that, centered on medical weight loss and metabolic health, delivered by telemedicine across California. That includes 60-minute intake visits, direct messaging with same-day physician response, GLP-1 management when appropriate, ongoing labs review, and a nutrition and movement plan built around your results. Medications and lab costs are separate. There is no contract.
Because the focus is narrow, you keep your primary care physician for sick visits, annual exams, and vaccinations — we coordinate with them directly.
Common questions
How much does a concierge doctor cost in Los Angeles?
Most Los Angeles concierge practices charge between roughly $2,000 and $10,000 per year, with elite executive-health practices running well above that. Focused concierge practices — those centered on a specialty such as metabolic health and weight loss — commonly sit in the $200 to $400 per month range. Elios Wellness is $500 for the first month, which includes the comprehensive initial consultation, and $250 per month after that.
Does the concierge fee cover my medications and labs?
Almost never. The membership covers the physician relationship — visits, messaging, availability, and care coordination. Medications, lab draws, imaging, and specialist care are billed separately. Ask any practice this question directly before joining, because it is the most common source of surprise cost.
Does insurance cover concierge medicine?
Insurance does not pay membership fees. Many concierge practices, including Elios, do not bill insurance for visits at all. Your insurance can still cover labs, imaging, medications, and specialists ordered by your concierge physician, and superbills are typically available if you want to submit for out-of-network reimbursement.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds for a concierge membership?
In many cases yes, particularly where the fee is tied to specific medical services rather than pure access. Rules vary by plan and by year, so confirm with your plan administrator before assuming it qualifies.
Do I still need a primary care doctor?
It depends on the practice. A full-service concierge primary care practice replaces your PCP. A focused practice like Elios, which centers on weight loss and metabolic health, works alongside your PCP — you keep them for sick visits, annual exams, vaccinations, and routine referrals.
Is concierge medicine worth the cost?
It is worth it when the extra time and access change your outcome — chronic conditions that need iteration, medication management that needs monitoring, or a history of feeling rushed and unheard. It is poor value if you are healthy, rarely need care, and mainly want convenience for occasional visits.
