If tirzepatide is clinically appropriate, it is prescribed and titrated from there. Everything is done by secure telemedicine.
Both are tirzepatide, made by the same manufacturer. Mounjaro is approved for type 2 diabetes; Zepbound is approved for chronic weight management and obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity. The molecule is identical; the label, and therefore how insurance treats it, is not.
In the SURMOUNT-5 head-to-head trial, tirzepatide produced greater average weight loss than semaglutide. That does not automatically make it the right choice for you. Nausea, constipation, reflux, and early fullness are the common ones, most often during dose increases. They are usually manageable with slower titration, meal timing, fiber and fluid, and occasionally a short-term medication.
